With so many great players in the field there were exciting games being thrown on every board with many of them taking the full three games to be decided. There were upsets by the lower seeds early and often. For example, in the Round of 16, four of the eight games were won by the lower seed. That round saw the exits of the #3, 5, 6 and 8 seeds.

As play progressed two of the tournament favorites found themselves in the Championship. Joe H., who had been the #1 seed all season long, faced off against Steve F., the #7 seed who has had great success in recent tournaments including winning the latest big Bay Area tournament. They were exciting games and, in the end, Joe H. managed to take the win and complete the full season of being the #1 seed and then winning the Championship.

Joe won a 3 In the third place game, Ryan S. won a hard fought victory over Mark M.2″ Vizio flat screen and Steve F. took home a Clearwater Threshers Suite Party.

Joe H. managed to hang on to the #1 ranking that he held for the entire season and will attempt to see if he can turn that top seed into a Championship. Lucas H., Mike B. and Mark M. were the three other top seeds who will get a bye.

The tournament will be a single-elimination, best 2 out of 3 format.

The final week of the regular season featured Mark B. and Steve F. teaming up to win the final blind draw.

So, if you are in the Top 20, we’ll see you there and good luck. If you are not, come out anyways and watch some exciting cornhole games being played by some of the area’s best players. You’ll also enjoy drink specials including free drinks for the ladies until 7pm and $1 PBR tallboys all night long.

If you have been thinking of coming out to Bright House Field for their legendary Wednesday Happy Hour for Custom Corn Toss’s Blind Draw Cornhole Tournament, now is the time to act. This upcoming Wednesday, November 7th is the last blind draw before the season-ending Singles Tournament for the players who have gained the most points over the course of the last few months.

Over 55 teams came out Saturday, October 6th to Tampa Bay Club Sports annual Tosstober Cornhole Tournament. Buffalo Wild Wings in Clearwater, FL hosted this great event and provided the food and drink specials. The weather was near-perfect as many of the best players in Florida came out to try and take home the title as Best Team in Florida.

Over 10 groups of five teams started the day throwing bags against each other to set the seeding for the Championship and Bar Tab brackets. Group play proceeded quickly with the top teams separating from the field and soon everyone was divided up for single-elimination brackets with Baggin’ and Braggin’ enjoying the #1 seed.

In the Championship bracket the field was quickly whittled down to the Top 4, with Corn Slingers facing Young Guns and Cornhole U facing CFLC. Both were great games and we soon had a Championship game featuring title game regulars Corn Slingers and Cornhole U.

The first game was back and forth with Corn Slingers winning by the slimmest of margins, 21-20. They then cruised in the second game to take home the Tosstober Cornhole Tournament Championship, who have now won two of Tampa Bay Club Sport’s 2012 cornhole tournaments (the other was Super Hole, which was also held at Buffalo Wild Wings)

Over in the Bar Tab Bracket, Corndog Millionaire (all the way from South Dakota) took home the bar tab and free set of corn toss boards with a win over Thelma and Louise.

If you haven’t been to a Tampa Bay Club Sport cornhole tournament you are missing out on one of the best run events that you are likely to attend. If you have thrown in one of their events before, you already know how fun these tournaments are.

This event will feature over $2,500 in prizes, including prizes for the Top 16, as well as a Bar Tab bracket with even more prizes!

Teams will be placed into groups for pool play, which will determine who makes the Championship bracket and who makes the Bar Tab bracket. No matter what your skill level is, you can count on playing at three to four pool play games, and at least one playoff-style single elimination game. And if your game is right, you just may find yourself as one of teams taking home cash prizes!

This is a team event, so find a partner and head over to Tampa Bay Club Sports and Sign Up now. The price is only $40/team if you sign up by September 30^th, after that the price goes up to $50. But don’t hesitate as these tournaments have sold out in the past.

Another Wednesday down and another great week at Bright House Field in Clearwater, FL. Turnouts for the weekly blind draw have been going well as players scramble to reach the Top 16 and secure their spot in the season-ending singles tournament coming up this November.  New and veteran players alike made it out to this event as the lower temperatures and the best happy hour in Tampa Bay make this the go-to spot for your mid-week break.

Remember, ladies drink free until 7pm and there are $1 PBRs all night. The blind draw tournament is only $5 and you can win cash or bar tabs, plus entry into the previously mentioned singles tournament.  So, there’s really no reason not to come out to Bright House Field this Wednesday to enjoy cheap/free drinks, live music and cornhole.

Last week, Lucas H. and Mike B. (currently 2^nd and 5^th, respectively) teamed up to make the Championship game where they played Mark M. and Dustin H. (4^th and 6^th). These two highly ranked teams battled it out, but Lucas and Mike ended up taking first place for the night and received enough points to start making up some ground on current #1 seed, Joe Hope.

In the bar tab bracket, Greg T. and Nic H played a great game and beat Steve F. and Chris L. to win 3^rd.

September 26th

Thanks to everyone who came out to Bright House Field last Wednesday  for our weekly blind draw cornhole tournament. If you weren’t there you missed one of our biggest week’s yet as we had many great players come out for Tampa Bay’s best happy hour.

Despite all of the great local throwers that came out to the event, it was Bob all the way from Chicago who teamed up with Stephan to win first place over Mike B and Courtney T. Dustin H. and Matt M. took home third place over current top-ranked player Joe H. and Alanna H. Special congrats to Pete B. whose performance last week moved him into the Top 16.

Remember you have just over a month to get into the Top 16, which means that there are just a handful of events left in order to get points. If you are sitting down there with less than 20 points one good week can get you into the Top 16. And if you currently have zero points you have a chance of making the Top 16 if you can make it out to multiple events.

Points aside, Wednesday’s at Bright House Field are THE spot to be for your midweek break as ladies drink free until 7pm and everyone enjoys $1 PBR tallboys all night long. September 19th

We are entering the final weeks of the Bright House Fields weekly blind draw cornhole tournament regular season and the rankings are tightening up as the players race to ensure their placement in the Top 16 before the final singles tournament.

This week current #1 Joe H. was teamed up with #5 Mike B. (the two often play tournaments together), in which was the crowd’s pick to win the evening. But much to their, and everyone else’s surprise, the team of Brian Z. and Cheryl P. played great games and managed to beat Joe and Mike twice to take home the first place prize.

In the meantime, 2^nd place player Lucas H. teamed up with Amanda K. to take home 3^rd place over Chris L. and Sara Z.

Remember, time is running out to work your way up the rankings and into the Top 16, so make sure and get out to Bright House Field this Wednesday for some great cornhole games, free drinks for the ladies and $1 PBRs for everyone!

Another Wednesday is finished and the top of the leaderboard is bunching up. Joe H. has held a large lead for the majority of the cornhole season, but now four others are within 11 points of the leader and a large group of players is right behind them waiting to move up the list and secure their place in the Top 16 and the season ending corn toss tournament.

With a few months left to get into the Top 16 there is plenty of time for all of you cornhole throwers to get out to Bright House Fields and throw with some of the best cornhole players in Tampa Bay. August 22nd

First, an important note: there is no cornhole this Wednesday, August 22^nd, as there is a Clearwater Threshers game that day. We will return to Bright House Fields for their Happy Hour on August 29^th. There is still plenty of time to make your way into the Top 16, so plan now to make Bright House Fields your regular mid-week break! There are free drinks for the ladies and $1 PBRs to help break up the stress of another work week.

A number of great players came out to play some cornhole last week, including some special guests from New York who came down to visit and show off the new 5-Hole Cornhole game.  After all the bags were thrown Ryan S. and Jason M. ended up taking first place with a victory over Jordan and New York’s Eric P.

After losing in the first round to Eric and Jordan, Ken H. and Steve F. won the rest of their games and took home the 3^rd place bar tab.  Special thanks to Emily C. who also came down from New York and played quite well.

August 15th

This is just a quick reminder that due to a Clearwater Threshers game there will be no blind draw at Bright House Fields this Wednesday. We will return on August 15^th for all of the Happy Hour fun to cure your midweek blues.

Last Wednesday’s blind draw featured a number of great players all trying to catch up to current #1 seed, Joe H. who had taken the week off. When the names were drawn current #2, Mark M. was paired up with current #3, Lucas H. This team proved to be too much for the field and defeated Dustin H. and Cheryl P. in the Championship to win the cornhole tournament and gain the maximum amount of points available.

Will Joe finally lose the #1 seed that he has held since the first week of the season? Both Mark and Lucas are within range of moving up to the top spot. Make sure to come out Wednesday, August 15^th to Bright House Fields in Clearwater, FL to join this great event. Maybe next week we’ll be writing your name as our weekly winner!

There’s still plenty of time to accumulate enough points to move up the rankings. At the end of the season, the Top 16 players will play in a Singles tournament. Last year had some great prizes including the Grand Prize, a private suite at a Clearwater Threshers game.

Bright House Fields Blind Draw Rankings (as of 8/6/12)

July 6th

After two weeks of rain delays, Custom Corn Toss’s regular Wednesday night blind draw tournament started back up yesterday at Bright House Fields in Clearwater, FL. This great event has been part of Bright House Field’s Wednesday Happy Hours for a few years now and always brings out great players looking to throw in a fun and exciting environment.

Between the blind draw cornhole tournament, the live music, $1 PBR’s and the specials for the ladies (they drink free!), Bright House Fields is the place to be for your mid-work week mental break and this Wednesday was no different. The cornhole boards will all be provided by Custom Corntoss.

There were a lot of good teams paired up for this tournament, but after all the cornhole bags had been thrown the team of Ken H. and Chris L. upset the powerhouse team of current #1 seed Joe Hope and #2 seed Mark M.

Current rankings are at the bottom of this post. Remember, every week you have a chance to earn points and find your way into the Top 16. These top players will play in a final singles tournament in November that always has some great prizes. In addition, every week pays the top 4 spots (Top 2 get cash, 3rd and 4th get bar tabs), so there’s no reason to spend your Wednesdays anywhere else!

The latest rankings are as follows (as of 7/26/12):

All players were treated to a fun day of cornhole and music with two different tournaments and a number of musical artists including David Cook (American Idol), Edwin McCain and Juliet Simms (The Voice).

The day started with many of the best players in Florida throwing bags in the Kin
g and Queen of Irish 31 Cornhole Tournament. Forty players signed up for this singles tournament with an interesting format that saw players randomly paired for a few games to determine seeding for the Championship bracket. After all the bags were thrown Chris C. and Scott L. met in the finals and decided to split the Championship (good idea since these two were signed up as partners for the doubles event!).

Following the Singles tournament was the $3000 Doubles Tournament that featured 28 teams battling out for title. Regular title contenders Cornhole U. (John A. and Chewy) made it through the winners bracket where they faced Corn In The Bay (Chris C. and Scott L.) in the finals. Corn In The Bay managed to take two games and win the Championship, completing a perfect day for Chris and Scott.
