31 teams braved the sweltering heat this past Saturday, August 4th for the 2nd annual NoPiki Cornhole Classic. The North Pinellas Kiwanis Club shut down the street at Boyle’s Backyard in Palm Harbor, FL for this great corn toss tournament that raised money to help support the many children’s programs of Kiwanis. Boyle’s provided the food and drink, there was a beer truck for the players, sponsor tents provided some much needed shade, and there was much more that helped make this a perfect day for the many cornhole players, and their friends and family, in attendance. Most importantly, everyone came together and helped out this great cause.
Custom Corn Toss provided a great set-up of cornhole boards for the tournament that saw the teams grouped into pools for 4 warm-up games before the championship started. Pool play moved along quickly and soon we had all of the teams ranked and sorted out into a Championship and Bar Tab brackets.
The Championship bracket featured nearly all of the best players in Central Florida and saw quite a few upsets that ended with the up-and-coming Lakeland, FL team “Young Guns” (Jon and Dalton) defeating “Carmine” (Craig and Brannon) in a best of 3 match-up to take home the first place title.
The Bar Tab bracket ended when St. Pete’s “Top Bay Tossers” (Dustin and Ken) took out “NBGH” (Greg and Nick).
Thanks again to everyone who attended this event and made it a huge success. We’ll see everyone out there throwing bags again soon!
